‘This will be the hardest Premier League ever’, insists Monk

first_imgSwansea City manager Garry Monk insists this will be the toughest Premier League season of all-time.The Swans finished eighth in the top-flight last season, their highest finish in the Premier League era, and they are being widely tipped to repeat that feat this term. But Monk is not getting carried away and admits the challenge facing his side will be huge.“This will be the hardest season the Premier League has seen,” he told talkSPORT. “Because of the TV money that kicks in the following season, you can see it now with the squads all teams are assembling and the money that’s being spent.“For teams like ourselves the most important thing is we get to that 40 points as soon as possible. That was our target last year and we did that earlier than ever before and we aimed higher after that.“But that has to be the first port of call for any team outside of those big teams at the top.”last_img
